No US forces in Quetta: embassy

ISLAMABAD, Nov 27: A US embassy spokesman said on Saturday that there were no American forces in Quetta.

The spokesman rejected a report which quoted Pentagon officials as telling the Congress that the Pakistan Army General Headquarters recently approved a US Office of Defence Representative and Coalition presence at the Pakistan military’s 12 Corps Headquarters in Quetta.

“This reporting is a misrepresentation. There is no permanent US presence in Quetta,” he said.

The embassy official said that visits by a US team provided information and coordination support between Isaf (International Security and Assistance Force) and Pakistan military, when Isaf operated periodically near the border with Pakistan.—APP
