‘Bandit’ killed in Landhi

KARACHI, Nov 21: A suspected bandit was killed during a shop robbery in the Landhi area late Saturday night, police said.A duty officer of the Sharafi Goth police station said that four suspects came to a general store in Mehshara Colony and two of them entered inside to rob the shopkeeper.

He said that the young shopkeeper got hold of his pistol and opened fire at the suspects.

Hearing the gunshots, the other two robbers, who were present outside the shop, also started firing.

The police said that one of their accomplices, later identified as Tariq alias Baba, suffered a bullet wound. “They [bandits] took him away from the crime-scene and dropped him at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he died,” the duty officersaid.

They said that it was not known so far that whose fire had killed the suspected bandit.

However, the other three suspects managed to get away with petty cash from the shop, the police said.

A case was registered with the Sharafi Goth police station, but no arrest was made.Drug addict murderedThe body of a man was found in the Aram Bagh area on Sunday morning, police said.

They said that that the victim, identified as Rahim, was a drug addict and used to hang around the in the area. He wasbludgeoned to death.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for a post-mortem examination.
