SHO, driver booked for releasing `car thief`

BAHAWALPUR, Nov 20: A station house officer and his constable driver were booked on the orders of the regional police officer for releasing an accused arrested in connection with a car theft case from the lock-up.

Reports aid Khairpur Tamewali SHO Ghulam Mohyuddin ordered 'temporary' release of Zahid, arrested on the complaint of Ramzan Rahmani, the owner of a stolen car, allowing him to say Eid prayers. The accused, however, did not return to the police station and escaped from the venue of Eid prayers.

According to sources, the SHO allowed the 'relief' to the accused on the recommendation of his driver, constable Muhammad Ali.

The RPO, on receipt of the complaint, ordered registration of a case under sections 225-A/155, 223, 224 of the PPC against the SHO and his driver. The driver was arrested while the SHO, who has been suspended from service, was still at large. MURDER CASE:

On the orders of the Lahore High Court, Yazman police registered a murder case against five people after the body of the victim woman was exhumed.

According to police sources, mother of three Rubina allegedly died after suffering burns under mysterious circumstances in her house on Jan 5, 2007.

Despite receiving a complaint from victim's mother Sughri Begum, the police did not register an FIR. Later, the complainant moved the LHC Bahawalpur bench on the issue, which ordered the exhumation of the victim's body.

After the completion of the exhumation process, the police registered a case against five people, including victim's husband Asghar Ali and a woman, Yasmeen Akhtar. Two of the five accused -- Akbar Ali and Mohyuddin – were arrested.
