Bollinger, Hussey to return home from India

VISAKHAPATNAM: Fast bowler Doug Bollinger and batsman Mike Hussey will return to Australia ahead of the third and final one-day international against India, Cricket Australia said on Thursday.

Bollinger had reported a minor abdomen injury while Hussey will return to play in West Australia's Sheffield Shield match with South Australia.

“Mike (Hussey) will have a few days off and then resume cricket in the Sheffield Shield match between South Australia and West Australia commencing on Oct. 29 at Adelaide Oval,” national selection panel chairman Andrew Hilditch said.

The visitors, already without a number of leading players including skipper Ricky Ponting, all-rounder Shane Watson and pace spearhead Mitchell Johnson, trail 1-0 in the three-match series.

Bollinger was experiencing some abdomen discomfort but it was unrelated to the injury that ruled him out of the second test and second ODI, Cricket Australia physio Kevin Sims said.

“We do not think the new issue is serious. However it will prevent him from achieving the workloads necessary for him to be available for selection in the third one-day match in Goa,” Sims said in a statement.

India swept the test series 2-0. The first ODI was washed out in Kochi while Margao will host the final match on Sunday.
