Ali Nawaz unhappy with performance

KARACHI, July 7 Former Pakistan national football team captain Ali Nawaz Baloch sees no future for Pakistan in not just football but all the other sports, too, as the government here remains oblivious of sporting activities in the country.

The 1974 captain of the Pakistan football team asks “Where do you see us in world football?”

“We stand nowhere in world football. Even our top footballer Mohammad Essa earns Rs0.6 million on annual contract. There is no way we can compete against countries who pour billions and billions of dollars on their sportsmen. Take the example of Christiano Ronaldo,” Ali Nawaz said.

“The Portuguese maestro earns more than $16 million per year, and this figure excludes his income from commercial advertisements.”

He said that the Pakistan government doesn't care about sports or sportsmen here.

“Trust me, they [government] don't care a bit about sports and sportsmen and one cannot raise players from a place where former legendary sportsmen are left to the tyranny of fate. The new players with potential can only predict a bleak future for themselves when they see the former players, who are totally neglected by the government, leading a life of misery,” he added.—PPI
