Children call for help against mother

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, June 24 Three girls and four minor children sent an application on Thursday to the chief justice of the Sindh High Court, the provincial police officer, the district and sessions judge and other officers concerned complaining against their mother.

Twenty-three-year-old Ms Nazia, Fozia, 18-year-old Farhana, fifteen-year-old Fayaz, ten-year-old Faraz, six-year-old Faisal and three-year-old Baby Dua told reporters that their mother Ms Zamiran Pirzado had become greedy and ruined their lives.

Ms Nazia said her parents had married her off to a man of Unnar tribe and they had a two-year-old son.

She alleged that at the time of marriage, her mother had received Rs50,000 for her marriage in the name of dowry.

Ms Nazia said her mother would come to her house and instigate her against her husband. Finally, she got divorce through a court about three years ago.

She said that the mother sold her again to a man who was Wagan by caste. She has two daughters out of this wedlock.

She alleged that her mother again wanted divorce, though she had received Rs40,000 from the second husband in the name of dowry.

When Nazia visited the parents' house about two months ago, the mother snatched her gold jewellery set, saying that her husband had got a Rs2,000 loan from her (mother-in-law) and did not return it.

Ms Nazia said that her in-laws were pressuring her to return the gold ornaments, threatening her with divorce.

Ms Farhana said that the mother had married her to a man, Khalil Pirzado, at Moro for Rs35,000.

She said that when she would visit the parents house, her mother would pressurised her to entertain strangers. When she refused, the mother complained to Mr Khalil, levelling false allegations against her.

Five months ago, Khalil held her hands and the mother cut her hair (choti) and two months ago, she was divorced. She came to parents house.

She said that the greedy mother had started the business of money lending by selling the daughters again and again.

The mother wanted Farhana to entertain money lenders who visit their house.

When her father Shahzado Pirzado resisted, the mother expelled him, Farhana, Fayaz, Farad, Faisal and Baby Dua from home. They are living with their sister Nazia in Qaim colony for two months.

Nazia, Shahzado and Farhana said that on Jan 16, Zamiran lodged a complaint against them.

An ASI, six policemen and police mobile driver Aziz Pirzado came to Nazia's house, abused and insulted Nazia, slapped Farhana beaten their father Shahzado and took him with them.

Shahzado Pirzado said that police kept him in illegal confinement for two days and released him after intervention by a PPP local leader.

Fozia said that her mother had arranged her marriage with Nazeer Pirzado, a rickshaw driver, and received Rs35,000 for her. She said that her mother was greedy and had been insisting her before marriage to entertain strangers.

She said she was working as housemaid in different houses for her two sons.

She said that her elder sister Shazia Parveen was also sold by her mother to a man of Panhwar tribe for Rs50,000. She said that the mother arranged the second marriage of Shazia with Aamir Memon. From this wedlock, she has a son and a daughter.

She said that the mother again got her divorced from the court about a month ago. Shazia brought a jewellery set given by her husband. The mother kept the set and Shazia was living with the mother with her minor daughter, 2.

Fayaz said that when he requested mother Zamiran to quit bad practice of bringing strangers home or going with strangers outside, her mother beaten him. Later, her clients also beaten him near Naushahro Feroze-Tharushah bus stop.

Nazia, Fozia and Farhana stated in their application that their mother purchased a plot from the money which she had received from Shazia's husband.

They said that they had sold their earrings and rings purchased by their father Shahzado to help construct their house on the said plot measuring 450 sq-feet.

They have appealed to the authorities to interfere and provide protection from police who insulted them on fake complaints.

They also appealed for getting a share in the house so that they could live a secure life.
