Four towns observe strike against outages

KHAIRPUR, March 24 A complete strike was observed in Ranipur, Hingorja, Gambat and Khuhra on Wednesday in protest against long hours of loadshedding.

The decision was taken after consultation among traders and residents of the four towns.

People and traders took out a joint procession and staged a demonstration on the National Highway near Ranipur.

Addressing the protesters, their leaders slammed 12 to 15 hours of loadshedding in Ranipur, Gambat, Khuhra, Hingorja and the surrounding areas which had badly disrupted trade activities.

They said that if loadshedding hours are increased in Karachi, the Sindh Governor immediately intervenes and makes payment to KESC and the duration of loadshedding is reduced to three hours but nothing is done for other cities of Sindh.

They said that federal minister for water and power is not serious to solve power crisis. They demanded that Sukkur Thermal Power House should be energised on emergency basis to help end loadshedding in Sukkur and adjoining areas.

People also responded to the strike call in Hingorja, Gambat and Khuhra by taking out processions there.
