10 killed in separate incidents

LAHORE, Sept 23 Ten people were killed in different incidents in the provincial capital during Eid holidays.

Two persons shot dead a 20-year-old youth over a petty issue in Faiz Bagh locality of Misri Shah on Monday.

Zahid, a tailor by profession, quarrelled with his neighbours Asif and Naveed over some issue a few days back but the elders made them reconcile. Asif and Naveed, who nurtured a grudge against Zahid, called him outside the house on Eid day and shot him dead in the main bazaar.

The family took the body of Zahid to Charing Cross and lodged a protest against the police for not arresting the accused timely.

Senior police officers and some political figures rushed to the spot and assured the protesters of an action against the Misri Shah station house officer (SHO) besides early arrest of the accused. The protesters dispersed after a three-hour show.

An unidentified man allegedly gunned down a 30-year-old man in Shaheenabad locality of Sherakot on Monday.

Naveed Asghar of Nishat Colony was present at his in-laws' house when a masked man turned up there and shot him dead.

His wife, Sidra, told the police the intruder did not demand cash or any valuable.

A four-year-old girl was killed when a stray bullet hit her in Bahadar Street of Sherakot on Monday.

Alisha, daughter of Nadir Ali, was playing at the time of the incident.

A 25-year-old security guard, Mir Baaz, committed suicide on duty in B-Block of Johar Town on Tuesday.

A young man allegedly clubbed his wife to death for honour in Green Park locality of Baghbanpura on Tuesday.The woman, daughter of Sajjad, had left her parents' home and contracted love marriage with Kashif of Green Park some three months back. Kashif suspected that his wife had relations with someone. He along with his brother, Rashid, attacked her with clubs and killed her.

The Baghbanpura police took Rashid into custody.
