Man providing fake ID cards to Afghans held

MANSEHRA, July 21: The Mansehra city police in a raid on a public call office (PCO) in front of the District Registration Office (DRO) here recovered 40 fake National Identity Cards and booked the PCO owner under sections 419/420/468/471 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to police sources, the accused, Malik Feroze, son of Malik Bashir, resident of Dab No 2, Mansehra, was involved in preparing fake NICs for the Afghan refugees in collusion with some department officials for the last one year.

The accused, according to the police sources, received Rs15,000 from the Afghans per identity card and pasted their photographs on the NICs with fake Pakistani names and addresses.

The police were interrogating the accused. It was learnt that some officials of the DRO and a number of Afghan refugees were likely to be arrested for the offence.
