KASUR, June 17 A 100-foot wide breach in the bank of BRB canal inundated on Tuesday over 50 acres in Mahalam Khurd.

The canal water was diverted to the Sutluj River and a dry drain to mitigate the flow. The Ganda Singh Wala police and local volunteers plugged the breach and erected a levee there. No Irrigation Department official took part in the work. —Correspondent
