Around town: Jamshoro bridge: Simply serene

There is something about Jamshoro — a small town, once a part of district Dadu and now a separate district itself. Being home to three major universities of Sindh — whatever Jamshoro is it's because of the students of the three universities who reside in hostels and come to Jamshoro to have meals, mostly, in the evening.

Among the attributes of the town, besides that it is built on a mountain called Morrha, are its exquisite sunsets which have inspired many poets to write poems on it. Specifically the scene when the sun is red and is about to hide behind the mountains is a sight one cannot forget.

However, there is also a spot at Jamshoro which is a picnic point for nature lovers. It's the Jamshoro Bridge built on River Indus at the junction of Hyderabad and Jamshoro. The shore of Indus at this point is quite welcoming and where visitors are greeted by the cool breeze that also make waves in the River Indus.

Summer is the season when people are out in large numbers for picnic at this point. Myriads of people come here to relax in the fresh air. Adding to the charm and beauty of the place is the surrounding greenery and the water of Indus flowing by — I spell it as 'serene'. And it's up to you to imagine how it would feel when it is raining! Plus, you can also enjoy sailing on boasts that are easily available here.

A point to note for those who are giving it a thought to visit the point is that there is a famous restaurant which is frequented by many guests. Let not the word restaurant make you imagine it as a place with a closed environment having 'No smoking' warnings on the walls. It's an open air place where you can enjoy food alfresco — be it what you bring along with you from home, or a freshly caught and cooked pallo, a kind of fish which is famous for its taste, that is available there.

In order to avoid any mishap to the large numbers of visitors, mostly families, some policemen are also on duty there for your security. So get set for a drive to Jamshoro bridge and enjoy a cool evening besides the Indus and have a taste of the finger-licking pallo fish.
