KARACHI: Importance of naval logistics stressed
KARCHI, May 5 Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir on Tuesday underlined the importance of logistics command units for ensuring timely and sustained logistic support for prolonged deployment of Pakistan Navy ships at sea and its participation in the Coalition Maritime Campaign apart from regular naval exercises during the year under review.
“Logistics is considered to be the backbone of any military force. Timely provision of logistics and support elements is of utmost importance for combat readiness and operational sustainability of an efficient navy,” said the naval chief while addressing the Annual Efficiency Award ceremony of the logistics command of the Pakistan Navy held at PN dockyard.
He said that besides looking after the repair and maintenance aspects of the Pakistan Navy fleet, PN dockyard was also making significant contribution towards the country's defence needs by constructing submarines and other naval platforms indigenously. “This indeed reflects professional competence and dedication of our officers and men,” he added.
Earlier, in his welcome address the commander of logistics, Rear Admiral Azher Shamim, talked about the role of logistics command in the maintenance of Pakistan Navy fleet. He said that the logistics command comprised mainly of civilian workers and the awards serve as an acknowledgment of their perpetual hard work.
Later, the chief of the naval staff distributed prizes on overall and individual performances.
