Villager injured in Indian shelling

SIALKOT, April 19: A villager on Friday suffered serious injuries in shelling by Indian troops on Khokhar Subballey village, Pasrur, near the Sialkot working boundary’s Charwa-Merjakey sector.

Sources said bullets hit Nasim Bibi (40) who was asleep in the courtyard of her house. She sustained injuries and was admitted to the Sialkot CMH in critical condition.

TAKEN AWAY: Five unidentified armed robbers on Friday deprived two brothers Hamid and Amjad of their motorcycles (GAK-4749 and STC-7716) near Gung Baryar village, Begowala, at Daska tehsil.

Begowala police are looking into the matter.

BODY FOUND: The body of a missing child, Zubair (7), was found on Friday from wheat fields near Jaamkey Cheema village, Daska.

Unknown killers had slit open his throat with a sharp-edged weapon. The deceased child was a student of the first class in the Government Boys Primary School, Bhano Pindi (Motra), and had been missing for the last one week.

Motra police have registered a case.

‘RAW agent’ held: Sensitive agencies on Friday arrested an Indian national for illegally entering into Pakistan through the Sialkot working boundary’s Charwa sector.

Mohan Lal, suspected to be a RAW agent, has been shifted to an unknown place for further interrogation.

VISIT: Foreign minister Abdul Sattar will visit Sialkot on Saturday (today).

He will speak at a meeting of the local business community at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) at 11.45am.

Later, the foreign minister will also address a joint meeting of elected Nazimeen and Naib Nazimeen.

Mr Sattar will be accompanied by Azad Jammu and Kashmir president Sardar Muhammad Anwar Khan.

FIRING: The harvesting of seasonal crops badly disrupted as Indian troops on Friday continued firing on villages in the Sialkot working boundary’s Chhumb Joriyan (Gujrat), Bajwat, Charwa, Sucheetgarh, Jammu, Akhnoor and Samba and Shakargarh-Narowal sectors.

No casualty has yet been reported.
