Tribute paid to Ghaffar Khan

PESHAWAR, Jan 20: The 17th death anniversary of the founder of the Khudai Khidmatgar Movement, Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, popularly known as Bacha Khan, was observed here on Thursday.

According to a press release, Quran Khwani was held at the Bacha Khan Centre, which was attended by leaders and activists of the Awami National Party in large numbers.

The participants included the central president of the ANP, Asfandyar Wali Khan, and its provincial president, Begum Naseem Wali Khan. They prayed to the Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace.

Public meetings and programmes will be held in different districts across the province in connection with the 17th death anniversary. These will be addressed by the central and provincial leadership.

Meanwhile, the students and teachers of the Alma Matter Public School paid tributes to the late Bacha Khan and presented a Peace Award to Begum Naseem Wali Khan here at the Bacha Khan Centre.

Begum Wali Khan thanked the students and stated that the entire world was now in dire need of peace. She said that it was now the need of the hour to spread the message of Bacha Khan to every nook and corner of the country.
