SEOUL, June 12: Qarar Hussain fought like a champion outclassing his Indian rival Vikas Malik, but his compatriot Mohammed Younis failed to match his Egyptian opponent's skills and had himself beaten up in the opening rounds of World junior boxing championship on Saturday at Jeju.

Qarar in 57kg weight category faced stiff resistance from his opponent in four rounds before he won 16:12. Qarar had a 11:4 lead in the first and second rounds, while in the last two rounds Viqas bounced back 8:5 but it was too late.

Qarar told PPI, "I had a little bit more pressure as I was playing against (our traditional rival) India, but in the end I won by the grace of God."

Younis played well in the first round of 60 kg category but could not keep pace in the following rounds. He was slower than his Egyptian opponent Gabriel Garaity who did not let go any chance to cash in on his weakness.

Earlier, 51 kg Ali Muhammed was disqualified after medical board said he was underage.

Pakistan is participating for the first time in the event, with five boxers Shahid Khan, Ali Mohammed, Qarar Hussain, Mohammed Younis, Dur Mohammed, Shah Naeem Zafar (manager) and Khan Mohammed (coach).

About 55 countries have fielded 256 boxers in the event.
