Bosan for stronger ties with Yemen

ISLAMABAD, March 7: Federal Minister for Food, Agriculture and Livestock Sikandar Hayat Bosan on Monday stressed the need for increased bilateral cooperation in agriculture sector between Pakistan and Yemen.

The minister stated this in his meeting with Yemeni Ambassador Abdul Elah Mohammad Hajar. Pakistan was willing to export its agriculture machinery, cotton and cotton products, rice, fruits, onion, vegetables and livestock products to Yemen, Mr Bosan said.

He said the government was introducing corporate agriculture farming in the country to improve productivity and profitability through the use of latest technology and to ensure international competitiveness and quality products.

The corporate farming would bring more area under cultivation and would help the country adopt modern farming technology. Corporate farming will be open for local as well as foreign investors in order to attract maximum investment and bring maximum area under cultivation which would ultimately help in improving the overall economy of the country.

The ambassador said his country wanted Pakistan to provide educational facilities to its students in the field of agriculture. He said his country was also interested in getting technology from Pakistan used in the construction of dams besides increasing the volume of bilateral trade.
