New Delhi to run trains for cricket fans

NEW DELHI, March 3: India will run special trains for Pakistani cricket fans who want to travel to Mohali to watch the first Test starting on March 8, it was officially announced on Thursday.

These trains would run from Attari on the India-Pakistan border to Chandigarh near Mohali, a distance of about 200km, the railway ministry said in a press statement.

The special train No 1 would run on March 6 and 7, starting from the Attari station at 11.50pm to reach Chandigarh at 5.20am. The special No 2 would run the same days, starting from Attari at 2.15pm to reach Chandigarh at 8pm.

After the match, special train No 1 would run on March 12 and 13 from Chandigarh at 9.45pm to reach Attari at 3am. The special No 2 would have its return on March 12 and 13 starting at 11.30pm from Chandigarh to reach Attari at 5.30am.

The special trains comprise one air-conditioned sleeper coach, seven non-AC sleeper class coaches and five non-AC seating coaches. The trains would halt at the Ambala cantonment.
