HYDERABAD: Depts warned of power supply cut
HYDERABAD, Jan 19: The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company has issued final notices to various departments of the Sindh government to clear its dues without delay, failing which their power supply will be disconnected on Jan 25.
A spokesman of the electric company told Dawn here on Wednesday that an amount of Rs2.0375 billion was outstanding against various government departments, and added that district coordination officers of all districts had been notified in writing to ensure payment of the dues by January 24 so as to avoid disconnection.
Giving details, he said that an amount of Rs386.4 million was outstanding against departments falling directly under the government; Rs261.168 million against the Hyderabad Development Authority; Rs105.3 million against local councils; Rs248.01 million against the district government and Rs1.03656 billion against various taluka municipal administrations of the province which fell under the jurisdiction of the Hesco.
BISE EXAMS: The controller of examinations, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad, notified here on Wednesday that the last date for accepting examination forms for appearing in HSC Part-I, annual examinations 2005, had been extended up to February 14.
He said that the last date for submitting examination forms in colleges had been fixed as February 9, while at the board, it was February 14. Examination fee was to be deposited by February 11, the controller said, adding that the schedule of late fee was the same as notified on December 4, 2004.
CASE: The first additional district and sessions judge, acting on a petition, has ordered registration of a case against the Latifabad executive engineer of Hesco, another official and four others, reports our Correspondent.
Petitioner Amir Alam had claimed that the accused had forcibly occupied his land and set up a cattle market there, and that the Hesco officials were illegally providing them with electricity.
