SHEIKHUPURA: Hospital staff go on strike in protest

SHEIKHUPURA, Dec 30: Doctors and the para-medical staff of the local DHQ Hospital went on strike on Thursday when a patient misbehaved with an eye specialist.

Sarwar Dogar, a close relative of ex-MPA Mehboob Dogar, approached Dr Ashiq for his medical check-up. The patient fell into a rage and misbehaved the doctor when he could not examine him in time.

Consequently, all the doctors and the para-medical staff went on strike and did not attend to the patients. They pledged to continue their strike till the arrest of Sarwar Dogar.

When contacted, patient denied that he had maltreated Dr Ashiq, claiming that the doctor had ignored him and was attending to the patients from whom he had taken the fee.

SHOT DEAD: An employee of the district prison was shot dead on resistance by bandits on Thursday in Shah Colony. Anwar was on his way to prison from his house when two armed dacoits intercepted him and tried to snatch cash from him.

For holding them out, the bandits opened fire on him, killing him on the spot. The body was shifted to hospital for autopsy. B-Division police are going into the matter.
