Rashid Latif sends notice to Shaharyar

KARACHI, Dec 9: Former skipper national cricket team Rashid Latif has served legal notice on Thursday to chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shaharyar M. Khan over the six months ban imposed on him.

According to Rashid, he sent the legal notice to PCB Chairman through barrister Abdul Qayyum and further action now depends on other party. Rashid who has been in touch with the top-notch barrister from Lahore since last couple of days had finally taken an action.

Shaharyar had imposed the six months ban on Rashid last week using his discretionary powers after he conceded a Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match against Faisalabad while leading the Karachi Blues side in Faisalabad.

Rashid's contention was that the pitch was dangerous and unsuitable for a first class match. Rashid is of the view that in the current case he had been banned without being even asked as to why he took the decision of calling off the game.

He said that the natural course justice was not followed before the penalty was slapped on him. Rashid has also complained in his letter that despite performing brilliantly by any standards during the current domestic season he was not even considered for the Australian Tour. -PPI
