FBI to train officials of FIA on cyber-crimes

PESHAWAR, Nov 29: The Cyber Crime Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has organized a training course for the investigation officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Islamabad , sources told Dawn here on Monday.

Forty FIA investigation officials had been selected for the one-week training programme 'Cyber Crime First Responder' which would begin at the FIA headquarters from Dec 8, the sources said.

The course was designed to teach officers about how to handle and collect evidence related to automation at workplaces or residences, they said. The officials would be imparted training related to collecting computers and computer media without destroying valuable data that might be crucial evidence in an investigation, they added.

The government has recently established the National Response Centre for Cyber Crime, keeping in view the increasing cyber crime trend in recent years, the said adding that some officials from the FIA would be transferred to the new department after the training.
