HARIPUR: Organic farming stressed

HARIPUR, Oct 13: Speakers at a seminar here on Tuesday stressed the need for development and preservation of local seeds through organic farming and called for discouraging the use of pesticides, insecticides and chemical fertilizers.

The seminar was organized by the Sungi Development Foundation on the occasion of the World Food Day at village Chappra of Union Council Rehana here on Tuesday evening.

The speakers discussed the importance of organic farming, and stated that the only thing which could help achieve the desired goal of preservation of food grain was organic farming.

They said that the growing challenges, particularly those pertaining to certain global protocols which the third world countries were exposed to, required a pragmatic approach as the prosperity of a country was fully dependent on food security and its quality.
