PESHAWAR: PHC issues contempt notices to officials

PESHAWAR, May 7: The Peshawar High Court on Friday issued contempt of court notices to the Charsadda district coordination officer, district education officer and deputy DEO for violating a court order.

A single-judge bench of Justice Dost Muhammad Khan directed the three officials to explain their positions and file written replies within a fortnight. The order was issued on a petition filed by a resident of Charsadda, Amanullah Khan, who said that the officials had not been obeying the court orders about providing him job in a local school.

The petitioner said he had passed his intermediate examination and added that the government had set up Government Primary School Ghamiullah Korona, Tanghi, on his land. He said he had given his land to the government with the condition that he would be given a class-4 job in the said school.

However, he pointed out, the government declined to appoint him. He said he had won legal battle against the government in the concerned civil court and the high court.

The government had claimed that there was no vacancy in the said school. The high court had earlier ordered the government that if the petitioner could not be accommodated there, he should be provided with job in any nearby school.
