LCCI seeks cut in power tariff

LAHORE, April 9: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has urged the government to bring down the power tariff in the greater interest of the nation and industry in particular.

In a press statement issued here on Friday, LCCI chief Mian Anjum Nisar said that the exorbitant power tariff was posing severe difficulties for the industry.

He said that China was providing free electricity to export oriented industry whereas our industry had to face repeated price hike of electricity that leaves our products uncompetitive in the world market.

He said in the forthcoming WTO and Safta regime, only those industrial organizations would be able to maintain their existence that can bring down prices of their products while maintaining their quality.

He also appealed to the Finance Minister to take measures in the federal budget to reduce import duty on raw materials to cut down the input cost. -APP
