PESHAWAR, Sept 17: Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has said that the local government system needed to be revamped in line with demands of good governance by introducing prudent reforms to the system.

Presiding over a meeting at his office on Wednesday, Ameer Haider Hoti appreciated the recommendations of the cabinet committee being formed for introducing reforms to the local bodies system, and decided to constitute a steering committee in this regard.

The steering committee will be headed by senior minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour and senior minister Rahimdad Khan, provincial finance minister, additional chief secretary and secretaries of establishment, local government, law, treasury, education and health are members of the committee.

The steering committee will further improve the recommendations before presenting to the federal government.

During the meeting, the cabinet committee briefed the participants about the proposed Local Govt System Act 2008.
