HYDERABAD, Oct 24: The acting chairman of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM), Shafi Karnani, has demanded that the influx of Afghan nationals into Sindh should be stopped forthwith and those Afghans who have already entered the province should be expelled.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, he said that if the government failed to take any action in this regard, the party would launch a movement against the Afghan nationals and other outsiders.
He said in the name of religion, hatred was being spread in the province. He called upon the religious organizations to stage protest demonstrations on the Afghanistan issue in other provinces as the Sindhi nation believed in secularism. He said his party would not allow Sindh to become a religious battle ground.
JSM: The central body of Jeay Sindh Mahaz (JSM), at an urgent meeting held here on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Abdul Khaliq Junejo, condemned the occupation of party head office, “Sindh House”, by Zain Shah group.
In a statement the information secretary of the party, Hashim Khoso, said that the Zain group had also taken over the possession of important files, books and newspapers.
He said that this was not the first instance where the offices of the anti-establishment political parties had been forcibly occupied and added that the history of the world was replete with such instances.
He asked the conscientious people of Sindh who have always been advocating unity among the nationalist groups, tolerance and cooperation to take notice of this high handedness.
SU COMMITTEE: The Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, has constituted a six-member committee to look into the admission process and to ensure transparent admissions in bachelors and masters degree programme in regular as well as self-finance scheme.
The Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Dr Noor Mustafa Shaikh, has been appointed convener while the director of admissions, Muhammad Saleh Rajar, will be the secretary of the committee.
Prof. Dr Iqbal Hussain Hashmi, Prof. Dr Iqbal Ahmed Ansari, Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh and Prof. Allah Wasayo Rajar will be members of the committee.
The committee at its first meeting held here on Wednesday approved the schedule for admission for the academic session 2002-2003.
The meeting decided that admission process for bachelors as well as masters degree programme will start from November 15, 2001, while the last date for submission of admission forms has been fixed as November 30, 2001.
The meeting also decided that pre-entry test for admission in bachelors degree programme will be conducted on December 23, 2001 and the aptitude test and interview of the candidates of Fine Arts will be held on November 24, 2001.
It was also decided that pre-entry test for admission in masters degree programme will be conducted on December 26, 2001. The result of pre-entry test will be announced on December 27, 2001. The meeting approved the schedule for the announcement of provisionally selected candidates.
According to the schedule, the list of selected candidates on quota oriented and general disciplines will be announced on January 1, 2002 while the date for payment of fees of selected candidates in first list will be Jan 2 to 7, 2002.
