Two held over minor boy’s murder

GUJRANWALA, May 23: Police on Friday ‘arrested’ two people in connection with the murder of a seven-year-old boy who was kidnapped for ransom from Nizamabad (Wazirabad) a week ago. Hamad Sheri of Nizamabad’s Seithan locality went to a nearby bazaar, but never returned. Later, his kidnappers called his parents and demanded Rs1 million for his release. His parents informed the police and suspected that Imran alias Mitho, who was working with Sheri’s father Abdul Razaq at a cutlery shop, was involved in the incident. Police arrested Imran and his accomplice Muhammad Zeshan. During the interrogation, the accused ‘confessed’ to have kidnapped the boy and dumped his body in the nearby fields after his parents could not pay the ransom. Police recovered the boy’s body from the fields and sent it to the tehsil headquarters hospital for an autopsy.

Saddar police registered a case against the accused under the anti-terrorist act and Section 365-A and 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

A source in the police department said the accused had been arrested, but DSP Azam said they had not been arrested so far.
