HYDERABAD: Power crisis due to flawed policy of past: MNA
HYDERABAD, May 19: The former government without adding a single unit of electricity to the power generation system electrified 70,000 villages, creating unprecedented crisis, said PPP MNA Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur on Monday.
Giving the breakup to office-bearers of the Merchants Welfare Association of Kotri, he said about 60,000 villages in Punjab and 10,000 in Sindh and other provinces were electrified during the tenure of last government. This wrong planning, he said, has made the lives of people miserable because of chronic power problems.
He said that he apprised Hesco Chief Guftar Ahmed Anjum of the situation and miseries of people due to frequent power breakdowns.
Talpur said he would try to prevail upon private sector companies located in Kotri and Nooriabad Sites to provide jobs to local youth.
He said that he had also asked the DPO to launch a crackdown against criminals when his attention was drawn towards unemployment and lawlessness in Jamshoro.
The MNA while replying to a query over the use of substandard material on the renovation of Hazrat Lal Shahabaz shrine said the Prime Minister had already ordered an inquiry which was being conducted by Additional Chief Secretary of Sindh.
MUET WORKSHOP: Four-day training workshop was conducted at the Department of Telecommunication Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology from May 15-18. The training was jointly organized by Combit Telecom, Canada and MUET.
The workshop was arranged for the faculty and staff for efficient utilization of Rs17 million equipments purchased for the laboratory of Fibre Optics Communication.
The hands-on experience and practical skills learnt at the workshop would be transferred to students. The Combit Telecom, a Canadian-based company specializing in fibre optics project was requested to conduct the training.
Vice Chancellor Dr A.Q.K. Rajput and CEO Combit Telecom M. Furqan Javed awarded certificates to participants at the concluding ceremony.
A.Q.K. Rajput lauded the efforts Chairman Department of Telecommunication Engineering Prof Dr Aftab Memon for organizing the workshop.
He also thanked Furqan Javed and Engineer Ali Qureshi, CEO and Director Engineering, respectively for conducting training. All deans, chairmen of various departments and professors were present in the ceremony.
