Corrupt officials to be jailed: CCPO

LAHORE, May 16: The corrupt and inefficient police officials will be sent behind bars soon after registration of cases against them, says Capital City Police Officer Pervez Rathore.

In his maiden meeting with the SPs, SPOs and SHOs, he made it clear that the officials patronising criminals or involved in criminal activities would not be spared. He said the officers instead of conducting inquiries against the corrupt officials would prefer registration of cases against them.

Mr Rathore said the people could contact him for facing any difficulty in registration of cases or any other problem pertaining to the police.

On Friday, Factory Area investigation in-charge Irshad Ahmad and Racecourse Sub-Inspector Bilqees Akhtar were arrested and jailed for malpractice. Sub-Inspector Shafique and head-constable Rafaqat were arrested as a criminal, who had assaulted a 12-year-old boy in North Cantonment, escaped their custody.suspended: Ravi Town division SP Sarfraz Ahmed Falki has suspended from service sub-inspector Muhammad Sarwar of Badami Bagh police station on charges of corruption and using delaying tactics in registration of a case.

A case has been registered against the SI and he has been arrested by the same police station, says a handout.

Aslam Shah lodged a complaint with Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Pervez Rathore that a woman was not giving back his money she had received as advance (girvi).

The CCPO directed the Ravi Town SP to take action and the same application was handed over to SI Sarwar. The official demanded bribe from the applicant and used delaying tactics in registration of the case.

During inquiry, the allegations were proved true and the SP immediately suspended SI Sarwar from service and ordered registration of a case against him under the Police Order, 2002, which the Badami Bagh did.
