HYDERABAD: Harassment fuels insecurity at workplace: moot
HYDERABAD, May 10: Violence and sexual harassment against women is rampant in the society and it fuels a sense of insecurity among them.
These observations were made at a seminar on “Sexual harassment and ethical issues at workplace” at the labour hall here on Friday.
The women wing of Pakistan Workers Federation had organised the seminar.
It was presided over by the general secretary of the federation, interior of Sindh, Abdul Latif Nizamani.
In his address, Mr Nizamani said that harassment and violence against women had become the order of the day in our society as a result of which women specially working women were suffering from a sense of insecurity.
He said women will themselves have to unite on one platform to fight against excesses against them.
He said that the workers federation was like a bouquet of different trade unions which was struggling for the rights of working class.
He said the women wing of the federation was also very active and it was not only organising training courses for women but also creating awareness among them about their rights.
Mohammad Iqbal Kaimkhani in his speech stressed the need for enacting women specific laws keeping in view the international conventions.
