CHITRAL: Three ‘drug pushers’ held

CHITRAL, April 19: Police claimed arresting three notorious drug pushers here on Saturday in an effort to weed out narcotics from the district.

Talking to Dawn, District Police Officer Sher Akbar said that one Mian Mukhtar resident of Shahi Bazar, Chitral and his accomplices Azam Khan and Mir Ajab were involved in the proliferation of hashish and other drugs in the district since long and public resentment was growing against them.

“The public had demanded stern action against them to save the society from the menace of drugs,” he said.

The DPO said that the drug smugglers had strengthened and organised themselves within the district over the years. The DPO said that the whole network of the smugglers would be smashed with the active cooperation of the people and no one would be spared irrespective of his position and status.
