KARACHI: Veteran film director dies

KARACHI, April 8: Veteran film director Jan Mohammad died of a heart attack here on Monday afternoon. He was 65.

He was buried in the Society graveyard after Maghrib.

Jan Mohammad began his career in films as a cameraman. Parakh was among his more popular films as a director in the 1970s, followed by International Gorillay in the ’80s. His other better known productions included Bangkok Kay Chor, Manila Ki Bijliyan, Teen Yakkay Teen Chhakkay, Choron Ka Badshah and Tina. His last film was the controversial yet super-hit Kuriyoon Ko Dalay Dana in 1996, starring Resham.

Jan Mohammad leaves behind the wife, two sons and two daughters. At the time of his death, one of his sons was in Karachi. The others are in London.
