Bush calls Musharraf

ISLAMABAD, Nov 30: US President George W. Bush telephoned President Pervez Musharraf on Friday night to congratulate him on assumption of office as head of the state for a second term.

A two-sentence statement issued by the Foreign Office Spokesperson Mohammad Sadiq on Friday night said: “The President of the United States of America, George W. Bush, telephoned President Pervez Musharraf to congratulate him on the assumption of office as the president of Pakistan for the second term. President Bush also lauded the president’s commitment to fight extremism and terrorism.”

This was the first telephone call that President Musharraf received from a foreign leader.
