LARKANA, Aug 29: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Wednesday stressed that the president must be re-elected by the present assemblies for the sake of continuity of present policies.

Speaking to a public meeting in Kashmore, Mr Arbab lauded the efforts of President Pervez Musharraf for the unity, integrity and prosperity of the country and claimed that the United States, the United Kingdom and many other countries of the world were all praises for the balanced policy of the president.

He claimed that former prime minister Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif plundered the national wealth and established a steel mill in Saudi Arabia. He had gone out of the country on his own free will, he insisted.

“He (Mr Nawaz Sharif) was habitual of purchasing institutions and individuals and always working for his and his family’s benefits,” Mr Arbab alleged.

He charged that Nawaz Sharif was not sincere with his country fellows and his only aim was to use politics to get personal benefits. The creation of new districts in the province was being opposed on political grounds and without naming any he said ‘they’ had established ‘Surrey Mahal’ in Britain.

He claimed that people of Sindh would vote for the Pakistan Muslim League to let the party continue development projects in their areas.

Later, the chief minister inaugurated a road near Akbar Khan Bhangwar village in Kandhkot and went to Dari village to offer condolence to the MPA Mir Ghulam Abid Khan Sundrani on the death of his mother.Kashmore District Nazim Sardar Saleem Jan Mazari demanded more funds for the completion of the development schemes in the district.

Our Jacobabad correspondent adds: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim said on Wednesday that the people who were opposing Gen Musharraf and his policies had fled the country.

He said at a public meeting in Kashmore that the then Chief Justice of Supreme Court, Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah, was removed by Nawaz Sharif, only to achieve his malicious designs and personal interests.

He said that Nawaz Sharif introduced politics of horse trading, purchasing loyalties of parliament members and removed the one who could not be bought.
