LARKANA, July 19: A large number of people from five villages demonstrated in front of the office of superintendent engineer of Rice Canal against closure Aabro Wah. The protestors led by Arbab Malgani and Anwar Janveri staged a sit-in and blocked the VIP road seeking release of water into Abro Wah, the main irrigation artery of Rice Canal.
They feared that channel’s closure would ruin paddy crop sown on hundreds of acres of land and alleged that an irrigation official was demanding bribe in return for releasing water into the channel.
They dispersed after the DSP of the city assured them of helping solve their problem.
MEDICAL CHECKUP: A 15-year-old unmarried girl of Allahabad locality was examined in Chandka Medical College Hospital on Thursday after her mother registered an FIR at women’s police station accusing one Mashooque Shiakh of sexually assaulting her.
She said in the FIR that her daughter was raped when she left her alone in the house to appear in court with her husband Moharram Khkhar.
Her daughter told on their return that the accused had deflowered her, she said.
