Ahsan boosts Sindh hopes in badminton

KARACHI, April 4: Sindh’s chances of dominating individual as well as men’s team badminton event in the 30th National Games got brighter with the induction of reigning national champion, Ahsan Qamar, in the 12-member team named on Wednesday.

Ahsan recently toppled Umer Zeeshan to add national crown to his cap.

Six golds, as many silvers and bronzes will be up for grab in the men and women events.

Secretary, Sindh Badminton Association, Saleem Paracha and Mahiya Moin will be organising secretaries of men and women events.

(Men) Iftikhar Hussain (captain), Ahsan Qamar, Asadullah Aleem, Tariq Mahmood, Harrison Burnt and Ali Mehdi. Officials: Jalaluddin (manager), Javed Iqbal (coach).

(Women) Afshan Shakil (captain), Sara Khan, Mahrukh Essa, Monisha Kotia, Aimen Khan and Palwashah Bashir. Officials: Nargis Hasan (manager), Nuzhat Sultana (coach).
