KARACHI: Governor, CM visit Quaid’s mausoleum
They laid floral wreaths at Quaid’s mausoleum, offered fateha and prayed for prosperity and progress of the country. They also inked their remarks on the visitors’ book.
Talking to newsmen, the governor said the objective to observe Pakistan Day was to reiterate our commitment to our homeland and make it strong and prosperous. He called for integrated efforts by all segments of the society for socio-economic revolution in the country.
Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim said Pakistan was politically stable and strong enough to thwart any kind external threat besides high rate of development and economic progress. He said the country was playing a front state role among Muslim states throughout the world.
He said some forces wanted to use ongoing lawyers’ protest against President General Pervez Musharraf but they would politically fail to achieve their objective.
He said some parties were talking about the judiciary and justice but they should remember that former Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice (rtd) Sajjad Ali Shah had to face inappropriate attitude and the Supreme Court was also attacked in their tenure.
The chief minister said the meeting of Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif in London had no significance because it would meet the same fate like the Charter of Democracy, which had now become mockery of democracy.
Arbab Rahim said he was thankful to the lawyers in Sindh for keeping themselves away from clutches of political parties.
Later, the chief minister met school children, who had come there to pay homage to the Quaid-i-Azam.
Sindh ministers Syed Sardar Ahmed, Qamar Mansoor and Dr Saeeda Malik, along with other notables were also present.
Later, senior representatives of the three armed services of the country laid floral wreaths at the mausoleum and offered fateha.—APP/PPI
