KARACHI, Feb 20: Test discard Atiq-uz-Zaman smacked a splendid century and skipper Mohmmad Javed finished with match haul of 10 for 163 to put Karachi Blues (KB) in a winning position in their Quaid Trophy Grade-I match against Bahawalpur at National Stadium here Wednesday.

Right-handed Atiq slammed an attacking 115 with 15 boundaries as the Blues made 338 in their first innings in reply to Bahawalpur’s 237 on the third day of their four-day match.

Bahawalpur in their second innings were bowled out for 240 with medium-pacer Javed claiming five for 82s following his five for 81 in the first innings. 5-81. He finished

Needing 110 to win in 93 overs, the Blues were 26 for one in their second innings when played ended for the day.

Earlier, the home side added 59 to their overnight score of 287 for nine with Atiq completing a superb century in 193 minutes with 13 boundaries.

Rajesh Ramesh extended great support to Atiq while making an unbeaten 10.

Overall, Atiq batted for three hours and 38 minutes and faced 149 deliveries for his 115.
