KARACHI: Girl given spurious injection, dies

KARACHI, Feb 18: A young girl died after she was allegedly administered a spurious injection at a clinic in North Nazimabad on Monday.

The police said that Najma, aged seven, resident of Block L in North Nazimabad was suffering from a minor ailment. She was taken to a clinic in the same block, where she was administered an injection. Shortly after, she died. The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.

The police said that the doctor was absconding and he had closed his clinic. A case had been registered against the doctor.

A middle-aged man died after he consumed countrymade liquor in Orangi Town.

The police said that Mohammed Iqbal, aged 55, consumed countrymade liquor in his home in sector 11, Shahbaz Town, in Orangi Town.

When his condition deteriorated he was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The police said that Iqbal was a butcher and he was an alcoholic.
