Over Rs100m land fraud unearthed
SARGODHA, Nov 20: The local Anti-Corruption Establishment and the Faisalabad directorate jointly unearthed a big land scam and arrested two patwaris while raids were on for the arrest of a tehsildar and the son of a former colony assistant, the qabza mafia head.
Reports said that the ACE had come to know about the land scandal worth over Rs100 million. The joint investigation by the ACE, Faisalabad and Sargodha, revealed that about 295 marla residential-cum-commercial land of the central government was unlawfully allotted in favour of Shahid alias Biloo, the father-in-law of Muhammad Tariq Nazir, posted at the DOR office.
The land had been allotted by preparing the PTO with forged signatures of officers of the settlement department in 1960. Muhammad Tariq is the son of former colony assistant Abdul Ghani.
ACE’s Sargodha additional director Syed Gulzar Ahmed told this scribe that he along with ACE director-general Brig Muhammad Aslam (retired) detected forgery committed in 2004 jointly by Muhammad Tariq Nazir, settlement clerk Shuja Rehman, tehsildar Amir Hussain, now posted at Pindi Bhattian, patwaris Karam Abbas and Bashir Ahmad.
He said the accused had prepared the PTO showing signatures by officers in 1960. He said the forged PTO was incorporated in the revenue record.
A case has been registered against the accused.
MONITORING: The monitoring has been intensified to refrain fertilizer dealers from hoarding and overcharging in compliance with instructions received from the Punjab government for ensuring timely supply of fertilizers to cultivators on subsidized rates.
This was stated by Bhakkar DCO Bashir Chaudhry while giving details of instruction by the Punjab chief secretary here on Monday.
He said that instructions would be strictly enforced and dealers indulging in hoarding and overcharging of fertilizer prices would have to pay heavy fines and undergo imprisonment as well.
