ISLAMABAD, Feb 13: The government has exempted central excise duty on import of hydraulic cement.

Earlier, importers have to pay 35 per cent ad valorem on the import of the hydraulic cement.

To this effect, CBR issued a notification here on Wednesday amending the SRO454(I)/96 dated June 13, 1996.

The changes will be deemed to have so been made on May 31, 1997, the notification said.

The notification reads as “in the aforesaid notification, in the table, after the heading 2523.0000 in column (1) and entries relating thereto, the following new heading in column (1) and the entries relating thereto in columns (2) and (3) shall be inserted, namely-2523.9000; hydraulic cement imported by an importer who fulfils all the conditions laid down in notification no. SRO400(I)/97, dated May 31, 1997”.
