PESHAWAR, Aug 25: The NWFP government will soon recruit 700 senior English teachers and 500 subject specialists on an ad hoc basis to overcome shortage of teaching staff in the province.
A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting held in Peshawar on Thursday with Education Minister Maulana Fazle Ali Haqqani in the chair. Secretary schools and literacy Amjad Shahid Afridi, director schools Fazal Manan, director colleges Prof Mohammad Amin and other officers attended the meeting. The minister directed the officials concerned to expedite the process of appointment and follow the rule of merit in all decisions.
TRAFFIC FINES: The traffic police have collected Rs590,000 as fine from 4,876 vehicles violating traffic rules and regulations during last one week in the provincial capital, police sources said on Friday. The police have launched a crackdown against vehicles having tinted glasses and tape-recorders. The campaign, which was started on the directives of chief of capital city police, Haji Habibur Rehman, removed tape-recorders from 550 vehicles in a bid to ensure safety to passengers.—APP
