KARACHI: The Sindh government has handed over 35 modern fire tenders to Rescue 1122 in a ceremony aimed at strengthening fire and emergency response across the province.

The vehicles, purchased by the local government department, will be distributed in phases to municipal corporations and union committees in different districts of the province.

Local Government Minister Nasser Hussain Shah and Adviser to the Chief Minister Gianchand Esrani attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, the local government minister said that the induction of modern fire tenders was part of the government’s plan to equip rescue and fire services with essential machinery and facilities.

He said that the availability of modern fire tenders would significantly enhance our capacity to deal with fire emergencies in urban areas and ensure a timely response to incidents,” he said.

The LG minister said that more fire tenders were expected to arrive and would be allocated to districts according to need and priority. “Necessary facilities will also be provided to union committees to strengthen emergency response at the grassroots level,” he said.

The minister said improving response time at the local level was key to protecting both lives and property. “The process of providing modern machinery, firefighting equipment and other essential facilities to enhance the operational capacity of Rescue 1122 is continuing,” he added.

Mr Esrani said the provision of new vehicles and equipment would make the Rescue 1122 system in the province more active, effective and modern. “The government’s priority is to ensure an immediate response to accidents, fire incidents and other emergencies,” he said.
