LARKANA: Deputy Commissioner Tariq Manzoor Chandio inspected the Aqil and Moria loop bunds to assess the situation after they were identified as vulnerable to erosion in the upcoming downpour and possible high flood in the Indus.
The DC was accompanying the superintendent engineer of the irrigation department at Larkana and assistant executive engineer of Northern Dadu Division.
The DC and senior engineers assessed the dykes’ strength and current pressure of flows in the river. SE Northern Dadu Division Jamil Sangi, along with his team, briefed the DC the condition of the dykes and their strength with reference to the situations witnessed in the recent monsoons.
The DC directed the SE irrigation to ensure proper arrangements with a view to avoid erosion of the dykes.
He said that adequate strengthening work should be carried out on both the loop bunds on an urgent basis.
