Forest fires erupt in Mohmand

MOHMAND: Forest fires broke out at separate locations in the mountainous areas of Mohmand district on Saturday, destroying several acres of grazing land and affecting wildlife.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, a fire was reported in the mountainous range of Autokhel and Wacha Jor areas of Halimzai tehsil.

Another fire broke out in the mountainous range between Silai and Shonkrai in the Musakhel area of Baizai tehsil near the Pak-Afghan border.

Several acres of grazing land were destroyed in the blaze, while birds and other wildlife were also caught in the fire.

Soon after receiving the reports, the Rescue 1122 firefighters rushed to the affected areas to contain the fires.

Rescue officials said that no casualties were reported. The cause of the fires was not immediately known.
