Teachers without salary

TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 17: Schoolteachers of the district have yet to get their salaries for the month of September.

A delegation of the All-Pakistan Federation of Trade Unions told District Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq during a meeting on Wednesday.

The members of the delegation urged the Nazim to order the education department to ensure payment of the teachers’ salaries by 7th of every month. They also demanded appointment of female teachers in schools.

They also urged that more women medical officers should be posted at the district hospital and classes for dispenser course should be re-started.

The delegation members suggested that a residential colony for government employees should also be set up in the district.

The delegation was led by APFTU’s Toba Tek Singh president Chaudhry Abid Hussian and general secretary Chaudhry Abdul Majid Salik.

DACOITS HELD: Police claim to have arrested five dacoits who looted a house in Zeeshan Colony, Sindhlianwali, on Wednesday.

According to details, five dacoits forced their entry into the house of Khalid Mahmood at 3am. They held up the inmates, collected Rs37,000, gold ornaments and valuables worth thousands of rupees.

The dacoits fled with the loot towards fields outside the town.

On information, Arrouti police chased the dacoits who took refuge in sugarcane fields. The dacoits surrendered when police challenged them.

The ring leader of the gang was identified as Muhammad Ashraf.
