ISLAMABAD: Pakistan expressed its deep shock today [June 19] at the killings in South Africa’s black township of Soweto and said it fully supported the African countries’ initiative for an urgent session of the UN Security Council on the matter. A statement by a For­ei­­­gn Office spokesman said Pakistan was rea­dy to support as before adoption of appropriate measures under the UN Charter to enf­­orce compliance by South Africa’s racist regime with the will of international community. … “The people of Pakistan extend their heartfelt sympathy to the victims who have fallen in the cause of human dignity and equality in South Africa. …”

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Quetta,] Qazi Mohammad Isa, a veteran Muslim Leaguer and a close associate of Quaid-i-Azam died of heart failure here this morning [June 19]. He was 64. His Namaze Janaza will be held at his residence on Lytton Road at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning. He will be buried at his ancestral graveyard at a place three miles from Pishin. … Qazi Isa ... founded Muslim League in Baluchistan in 1939... . … The news of Qazi Isa’s death cast a pall of gloom over Quetta.
