NAROWAL: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped in Narowal while the police claimed to have caught the suspects in injured condition during an encounter on Wednesday night.

In her complaint to the police, the victim’s mother, a resident of the Qalandarabad village of Narowal, said that her daughters H (21) Bibi and M (17) had come to Narowal city on a motorcycle for some urgent work. She said that her elder daughter told her that M was kidnapped by two men on a motorcycle and she was taken to to Manik Road and was raped there. She said that her daughter’s condition became critical due to the assault and she had been shifted to the DHQ Hospital.

The Narowal Saddar Police registered an FIR against the accused on the complaint.

Meanwhile, police said that on Wednesday night, a police team had set up a checkpoint near the Monk Stop on the Narowal-Muridke Road. Police claimed that when two men on a motorcycle were signalled to stop on suspicion they tried to flee on the Ring Road.

Police claimed that due to high speed, the motorcyclists swerved off the road and were injured after hitting a roadside building. When the police team identified the injured suspects, it was found that the two suspects were wanted by the Narowal Saddar Police in a rape case.

The police took both accused into custody and shifted them to the Narowal DHQ Hospital for treatment.
