ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan has taken prompt steps to protect the rights of Pakistani immigrants in the United Kingdom following the unrest cause by the leakage of a one-sided confidential report of a British Foreign Office official on the alleged smuggling of Asian immigrants into Britain. Official sources said the Minister of Foreign Affairs has been in constant touch with the Pakistan Embassy in London since May 24 when the British House of Commons started debating a private member’s motion on immigration. The current debate in the Commons has agitated not only the Pakistani community but also a large number of Indian and Bangladeshis residing in the United Kingdom. — News agencies
