LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Wednesday granted a 10-day physical remand of Ghulam Mohiuddin Diwan, a PTI leader from Azad Jammu & Kashmir, in a case relating to alleged anti-state speeches, attacks and violence at Sherpao Bridge during the May 9 riots.
The police produced Diwan before the court after completion of his identification parade.
The investigating officer said the suspect was identified by witnesses during the parade and was found involved in the Sherpao Bridge incident.
He informed the court that the suspect had been formally arrested in FIR No. 97/2023 registered at Sarwar Road Police Station.
The IO alleged that Diwan, along with other PTI leaders, participated in delivering speeches and inciting violence and vandalism during the May 9 unrest.
He asked the court to grant a 30-day physical remand of the suspect for further investigation.
Judge Manzer Ali Gill, however, allowed a 10-day physical remand and directed the police to produce the suspect again on June 13.
